18 Grill Teams competing for Top Prise and $1000.00 Cash, bragging rights for a year and this beautiful Trophy courtesy of Beckner Jewelry.

This event has been a fun family fundraiser for the past three years for the Donahue Academy.  Last year we have added a steak cook-off to help bring guests to our town to enjoy the amenities it has to offer and to join in the festivities.  This year the day will begin at 10:30 am with a parade of  our grill teams.  They will add secret spices, rubs and marinades to the steaks.  There are activities for the whole family.  Festivities will begin to include games, bouncy houses, a rock wall, food, silent auction, wine tasting and more!  At 3pm the grills will be lit and the contest will begin.  Teams will turn their steak into the judging station and the serving lines will open at 5pm.  Those with steak tickets will pick-up their side items from the serving line and then choose the grill team, they would like to get their steak from.  At 6:15 the Steak Cook-Off winners will be announced and prizes awarded. Come out to participate in this friendly competition and support area grill teams.  This event has numerous sponsors including two national and four regional sponsorships and many local business. Wristbands for the games and activities will be available at the Academy and will have a pre-event discount.  They will go on sale starting Tues. Jan 16. Steak Cook-Off meal tickets are $15 and include a 16 oz. steak, baked potato, salad, roll and drink.  This size meal can definitely be shared.  Tickets can be purchased at the Academy and the University Bookstore.  Purchase your tickets early as they are  limited to 1100.   The day-long celebration includes a Family Festival beginning at 11:00 am featuring youth games with a few new additions and the ever popular pitch burst, paintball, inflatable fun, dance performances, live music by TCB Mobile Entertainment, The Dazzling DelRays and Legacy of Steel, and demonstrations by Collier County Sheriff’s Office including K-9 Unit, Bomb Squad and SWAT.  Thanks for your support of the Donahue Academy and we hope you will join us for this year’s inaugural event!  More information can be found on the academy website or by calling the school at 280-2450.
